Boys Freshmen Basketball
The purpose of the Freshman boys basketball team is development of a skill set to enable them to particpate at the next level.
Team Announcements
Osbourn Park Game Rescheduled
The Freshman game that was canceled on Friday 12/17 has been rescheduled to be played on Wednesday 12/22 at 5:00pm at Potomac High School.
Practice Canceled
Due to early dismissal, there will be NO PRACTICE on Thursday December 16th.  As of now the game against Osbourn Park is still scheduled for Friday December 17th.
Time Change for Brook Point Game
Saturday December 4th's game time against Brook Point has been changed to 1:00 pm.  The bus leaves at 11:30 am in the front of Potomac High School.  The back drive will be closed due to repaving.
Battlefield Game has Rescheduled
Wednesday December 1st's game against Battlefield has been postponed.  No makeup date has been scheduled.
Team Results
1/13/2011 Potomac - 44 Freedom - 49 (OT)
Potomac lost a heartbreaker falling to Freedom in overtime.  After Xavier Laws hit a 3-pointer as time expired to send the Panthers into overtime, Potomac was not able to hold off the visiting Eagles. Trey Porter had a team high 12 points and Kevin Somoza added 11 points.  Potomac's record goes to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the district.
1/7/2011 Potomac - 40 Hylton - 52
Potomac lost thier first district game at Hylton on Friday.  The Panthers and Bulldogs were tied at halftime 19-19 but Potomac was unable to keep up in the second half.  Kevin Somoza had three 3-pointers on his way to 11 points while John Leinenbach added a season high 7 points.  The loss dropped Potomac to 6-2 and 4-1 in the district.
1/4/2011 Potomac - 47 Woodbridge - 40
The Panthers started off the new year with a come from behind win against Woodbridge.  Jared McCain had 9 points and Trey Porter and Kevin Somoza each added 8 points as Potomac raised its record to 6-1 and 4-0 in the district.
12/22/2010 Potomac - 46 Osbourn Park - 38
After being down 21-15 at the half Potomac was able to pull away with the 46-38 win.  The Panthers used a 15-3 advantage in the third quarter to pull out their 3rd district win and 5th win in 6 games.  Trey Porter had a big game with 14 points while Jared McCain had 2 three pointers on his way to 10 points.
12/21/2010 Potomac - 28 Colonial Forge - 35
The Panthers lost their first game at Colonial Forge 35-28.  The Panthers were led by Xavier Laws 7 points and Kevin Somoza's 5 points.  The lost puts the Panthers at 4-1 on the year.
12/14/2010 Potomac - 52 Forest Park - 49
While playing their fourth straight away came the Panthers won on a last second shot for the third time in four games.  After letting a late lead slip away Potomac was able to get a key defensive stop and get a winning lay-up from Xavier Laws.  Laws lead the team with 13 points, Kevin Somoza added 11, and Averil Campbell III had 9 points.  The win puts the Panthers at 4-0 and 2-0 in the district.
12/10/2010 Potomac - 52  Gar-Field - 49 (OT)
Potomac won another exciting overtime game to improve to 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in the district.  Down by four the Panthers were able to force overime with a couple of timely steals and clutch baskets.  Harris Heslip hit the game winning three on his way to lead the team with 13 points.  Kevin Somoza connected with three 3-pointers on his way to 13 points for the game.
12/8/2010 Potomac - 48 Stonewall Jackson - 38
Potomac got its second win of the season at Stonewall Jackson.  The Panthers jumped out to a 21-9 first quarter lead and was able to hold on for the win.  Tevor Brown had 10 points for the Panthers, while Jared McCain added 8.  The win improved the Panthers to 2-0.
12/4/2010 Potomac - 36 Brooke Point - 35 (OT)
The Panthers got there first win of the season in an exciting overtime game.  The team was able to overcome a late deficit to pull out the game.  Xavier Laws lead the team with 18 points, while Trevor Brown and Dawud Abdul-Azeez each had 4 points.  The Panthers are now 1-0.
